Where do we begin?  We think it proper to introduce to you Phelencia A. White, Creative Visionary for the Institute for Homeowner Education & Awareness, Inc., Girlfriends In Christ and www.HelpIsOnTheWayLA.com.

There are few times when a person willingly steps into the shoes of someone else. Especially when to walk in those shoes you are deprived of some of the creature comforts to which you’ve become accustomed. God granted Phelencia the opportunity to do just that. 

In December 2001, this single mother and businesswoman found herself living an unfulfilled spiritually compromising life.  She had amassed many career successes and material things, yet a void remained.  She asked God for wisdom and knowledge so she could help His people.  Her spirit grew weary as she witnessed many of God's children hurting, hopeless and living beneath the quality of life that Jesus died to provide for them.  Prior to this time, she worked as a HUD Certified Housing Counselor trying as best she could with the limited resources available to help people who were suffering the loss of their homes due to foreclosure.

Then in 2002, this real estate broker by profession then she spent an extended period of her life understanding homelessness first-hand when she refused to compromise her convictions against the unfair treatment of property owners and the loss of property propagated by large financial institutions. Not knowing what each day would bring, she personally experienced broken systems, hard-to-reach resources, but most importantly the blessings to be found in brokenness.

During this experience she learned what it was like to sleep in hotels, motels, in the homes of strangers (angels) who reached out to help her in times of need. And when the money ran out she experienced what it was like to sleep in a car – she didn’t even own. But through this wilderness, she received a gift that only God could give – the priceless gift of wisdom, understanding and knowledge that is only to be found through God’s grace, favor and mercy. With a renewed spirit and committed heart to making a difference, she took the lessons learned and now uses them to bless, enrich and minister into the lives of others in a special way. 

She was inspired and empowered to walk with a "What would Jesus do?" faith and belief system in every area of her life regardless of the personal sacrifice. Refusing to allow her spirit to be quenched despite many disappointments and challenges as she was tried through the fire she remembered the Scripture which says... "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
